You know,Leadership is easy to explain. Not easy to practice.Because here behavior stands
first , skills second. It needs trust and respect. His messages and demands should not be in
contradiction with the realities of business life. He should be aware of the advantages and
disadvantages he has.
So I would like to take an example of a person who had all the qualities a leader is
supposed to have. He was a leader not only in one aspect of life but he led his community to
success in every field. There is none in human history comparable to him as commander,
statesman, religious leader, spiritual guide, etc.
I look upon our Prophet Muhammad as a prime example when it comes to embracing
leadership qualities.
"If the individual is known by his peers as having good attributes such as honesty, they
will have no problem in electing that person as a leader," he said.
The following are few of his Leadership Qaulities,
1. Trustful and Realistic - He trsuted all his dedicated and responsible followers.
2. Visionary outlook - La illaha illala mohamudur rasulillah
3. Good communication and technical Knowledge
Over twenty-three years of delivering the call of Allah (God in Arabic), Prophet
Muhammad developed educational communication patterns to educate people to
learn about Islam. He says 'Acquire knowledge, it enables its professor to
distinguish right from wrong; it lights the way to heaven. It is our friend in the
desert”.
4. Challenge the process
A life full of challenges he was to face.He lost his father , mother and grand f
ather in his earlier age. When he got revelation there were 360 idols in the
Kaaba. People were against him. There were fears for his life, then the Hijrat took
place. He challenged the process and won it. few examples, even when the
conditions were most unfavorable, he never conceived of giving up conveying his
Message nor yielded to the desires of his opponents to make concessions.
Instead, he used to say to them: Say, ‘There is no god but God’, and prosper in
both worlds.
5. Enable others to act
He says ' One who meets with others and shares their burdens is better than one
who lives a life of seclusion and contemplation'
6. Encourage the heart
He mentioned that being a good leader requires a big heart and patience, and t
hat if one is a leader but does not possess these attributes, the repercussions of
their leadership will be affected.
7. Work Together
He also highlighted a few attributes a Muslim leader must consider among them
to work together with their peers.
8. Courage in Decision Making.
The Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace, was the most courageous of
people. When some of his pursuers reached the mouth of the cave where he was
in hiding, Abu Bakr was afraid that something would happen to the Messenger.
However, the Prophet, upon him be peace and blessings, comforted him, saying:
Grieve not, for God is with us.29
